Traveler Warning: Those Deadly Jelly Fish

March 31st, 2009

I’ve always had an interest in Australia. In fact when my wife and I were on our honeymoon in San Francisco in 1953, we visited the Australian Consulate and were given immediate permission to migrate there. Being more chickenhearted than my forbearers I never went.

The wildlife is what interested me in Australia, especially the birds.

Not being a great swimmer like my wife, I was never overly interested in wading into the surf. However, I surely would have given the opportunity. That is, before I saw a television wildlife adventure showing scientist, who had been stunk by minute jellyfish, in intensive care shaking, sweating, suffering from intense pain, and threatening to die. These brave two, a young man and a young woman, were studying such critters.

Jellyfish toxins are the most dangerous in the world to us humans. The little jellyfish must paralyze and kill its prey instantly to be effective. The little fishy must not be the one who got away.

We are use to jellyfish in the United States. Ours are bigger and the lifeguards can warn us to get out of the water. Not so with some Australian species. You can’t even see them they are so tiny. If you are stung, After Bite® from your local drugstore may not do the trick.

Travelers might visit Internet sites such as http://www.bugbog.com/travel_safety/dangerous_animals/jellyfish_stings.html before visiting places where dangerous jellyfish reside. If you have a heart problem, you might stay out of the water where jellyfish abound. Most deaths are from cardiac arrest.

Here is a nice site, easier to read than the one above, that will give you some chit chat from people who live near the critters: http://abcasiapacific.com/englishbites/stories/s1229942.htm. This site will also give you the facts of risk and what you should do to protect yourself.

A Rainy Day in Barca – Where to Go?

March 31st, 2009

Barcelona Aquarium

The perfect place to take the kids or to take cover on a rainy day in the Catalan capital, Barcelona’s aquarium has a reputation as one of the best in the world. Located in the Port Vell area of the city, the impressive facility is the largest of its kind in Europe with twenty vast tanks containing a mind-boggling 5million litres of water. The highlight for most is the immense 80 foot walkway through the Aquarium’s largest tank which is home to several species of shark and gives visitors the chance to come face to face with these apex predators. For those keen to get a little bit more involved then there’s the excellent “Explora” section with a see and feel tank that lets you get up-close to some of the underwater animals – there’s even a chance to stand in one of the tanks whilst rays swim around your ankles. With many themed areas covering many of the worlds oceans visitors will have the chance to see a diverse array of fish and marine invertebrates including the world’s leading collection of sea creatures from the neighbouring Mediterranean.

FC Barcelona Museum and stadium tour

An extremely popular visitor’s site and well worth a look even if you’re not a football fan. The museum itself is a testament to the club’s illustrious history and is adorned with trophies, pictures and even statues of the clubs greatest players. After expansions in 1987, 1994 and 1998 the museum must be regarded as one of the city’s finest; the art section even features works by Dali and Miro. The museum ticket also includes the chance to see the magnificent Nou Camp stadium – the 90,000 seater stadium is a sight to behold and visitors can only imagine the noise when the stadium is full of screaming Barca fans. For a little extra money it’s worth purchasing a dual ticket which will give you further access to the players dressing rooms, press box and VIP lounge and conference areas. With over 1 million visitors every year it’s a must-see site and gives a real insight into one of the passions of this football mad city.

CosmoCaixa , Barcelona Science Museum

Only opened in September of 2005 Barcelona’s new and improved Science Museum is set to take Barcelona by storm and has already proved itself to be extremely popular with the younger generation. Eclipsing Barcelona’s ever-popular old Science Museum the new museum covers 30,000 square metres and is five times the size of its predecessor. With superb interactive activities such as the usual touch and smell room and the superb flooded Amazon forest, the museum is already proving to be a real shot in the arm for the city.

Museum of the History of Catalonia

Housed in the only remaining original building from Barcelona’s old port, The Museum of the History of Catalonia is one of the city’s treasures. Lovingly restored, the original building dates back to 1881 when it was built as a trading depot. This excellent museum walks its visitors through Catalan history from prehistoric time’s right up to the 18th century. Popular with school kids, university students and tourists alike, the museum is a must for history buffs or those with a general interest in the city and its surrounding areas. With a strong educational ethic, the museum is an excellent resource for anybody who wishes to use it.

Short Format Video Commercials Can Be Superb when Marketing Your Company

March 30th, 2009

Nowadays, as so many business & managers are looking towards web video sites as a tremendous place to post content to grab the notice of their viewers, it’s vital to tell apart the main benefits of using internet video marketing sites.

Here are a couple required bits and pieces you have to understand before you begin to upload promotional videos on web video sites.

Constantly try hard to use promotional videos that give valuable material to your potential audience – A number of business people mistakenly think you can simply put any brand of advertisement on a video portal, but nothing could be any further from reality. Each and every video should deliver some value added material to the target market, or otherwise start topic of talk.

Carry out some brand of market research on the video websites before posting your very first video – it is a great idea to allot some extra time putting your market’s essential keywords into the search engine on the site, to learn what comparable videos are presently there. Then write down the profile names of the most important businesses in your niche. Perhaps afterwards you can become involved in a joint venture or even have some type of cooperation with these firms. Vidify can work successfully to offer white-label online video production and publishing strategies for your company.

Take into account that each & every video portal has a society built into it – Because of this you are suggested to respect the other members & it’s recommended that you post positive comments about your rivals’ videos. Primarily you must be a member of the community, providing comment, ideas etc. And only then should you judge yourself as being a marketer & begin to distribute your very own videos and items

Commit yourself to making quite a lot of promotional videos – You ought to have an obvious strategy for developing and distributing various promotional videos. If not, your company’s page on the video websites will give the sense of being blank if it just has one single video to watch. With this in mind, give extra time setting up the construction of a sequence of short format videos, rather than only one significantly long video.

Web video marketing is one of the best & fastest manners of promoting at present.

Yacht Charter : 6 Top Tips For A Safe And Pleasurable Vacation

March 30th, 2009

So you have decided you want to go on the perfect vacation you have always dreamt of – chartering a yacht. Before you go ahead and consult a specialist, you should read carefully the following tips, and then right them down on a piece of paper along with the things you really want to experience during your charter and what you want to do.

The tips

Tip. 1
You should see chartering a yacht just as a classroom, and in order to understand what the teacher is talking about, you must be correctly informed. In this case the charter agent is the teacher.

WMT – this means Western Mediterranean Terms. It includes chartering equipment and the yacht, insurance for the yacht and the crew, wages and food for the crew. All other commodities such as consumable stores, harbor charges, food and beverages, pilotage fee and any charge made on-land such as electricity or water, communications and laundry, will be supported by the charterer.

SEMT – it means Standard Eastern Mediterranean Terms. The fee includes: the obvious chartering of the entire yacht and equipment, crew wages and food, insurances for the yacht, fuel for a set course or a specified numbers of hours/day, electricity or water taken form shore and harbor taxes. Other cost will be charged to the charterer as follows: consumable stores, beverages and food, harbor expenses besides the preset ones, communications, laundry and fuel for tenders such as ski-boats.

SCT – it means Standard Caribbean Terms. every expense listed in the WMT and SMET paragraphs are included in the fee, as well as every piece of food served on the yacht. Also, there are extra charges you should be aware of, such as the wines and anything found in the bar, special activities equipment such as scuba-diving equipment and marina berthing.

GT – it means Greek Terms. They include chartering of the yacht and equipment, crew food and wages, third party claims insurance for the yacht, harbor taxes while in Greece, and ship’s laundry. Food, beverages communications and fuel will be charged as well.

Now, that you know the terms and specifications, when you will go and see your chartering operator, you will know what is he talking about, but, to be even further informed you should know the following.

Tip. 2
Before you decide what kind of yacht to hire, ask yourself what do you expect from the holiday. First, and foremost, if you want to hire a yacht, you should be a man who like sumptuous surroundings. Then, do you want to host parties for your friends while you are docked at some of the most fashionable marinas? Or maybe you just want to relax in a private cove while reading your favorite book. Maybe, you want to learn exciting water sports? These are the type of questions to ask yourself, before anyone else.

Tip. 3
Depending on the type of person you are (and only you know this), you should decide on what will you be chartering – a motor yacht or a sailboat. While sailboats are slower and perfect for the romantic type, and for the one who is really in love with the sea, the motor boats give you the luxury and incredible yacht lifestyle.

Tip. 4
Friends. Think ahead of the number of friends you will be having with you, and to the size of the parties you will throw in order to anticipate the size and configuration of what you will be chartering.

Tip. 5
Calculate the time you want to spend on your yacht, because this will be critical when you will want to go to the many places the sea has to offer, no matter where you are.

Tip. 6
Make reservations early before going, since during the holidays the yacht are booked up to a year in advance, and in some cases even more.

These tips come to aid you in your perfect holiday quest. They are not meant to replace the information given by an agent, but to complete it. I hope you have fun.

March 28th, 2009

Fishing trips to Canada are becoming more and more popular as a family vacation. Except for the fish, Canada fishing trips can offer great opportunities to spend your time near the water, such as beachcombing or whale watching. The excellent hotel amenities can ensure your good time there. You can have breakfast near the lakes or go hiking, or visit some museums as well.

The town of Sookie is perfect for this aim, and its nearness to Victoria can offer you many more exciting things to do. Or you may as well visit Vancouver Island and experience all the delights of fishing that it has to give you. Another perfect destination for fish lovers could be the town of Port Renfrew. Canada fishing trips include all kinds of adventurous things to do, but most people still consider fishing the best way to spend the day. Here is a list of all the wonderful places that have suitable conditions for fishing.

Ontario Fishing Lake. If you dream of going on a Canada fishing trip and spending your time in oodles of fish, the Lake of Ontario can make your dreams come true. The Closs Lake bounds in Muskie and Smallmouth Bass. The Bass caught there are of extreme size: up to and over 5 pounds. The record states that 2 people in 5 hours have caught over 50 Bass, their body length varying between 16 and 20 inches. Muskie is also plentiful, a sum of 13 was boated once on a daily trip. Their size is between 25 and 30 pounds. Land portage is easy.

Ontario Northern Park. This lake is perfect to make a Canada fishing trip for pike. Pike can be caught there in oodles. The record made was 100 pikes caught in 4 hours. The modest quantity of pikes varies up to 50 Pikes for several hours. The best catches can be made on Terry Lake. Action for Northern Pike is extremely fast. Light tackle is also highly exciting here. Land portage is slightly difficult.

Booger Lake. The best place if you admire Northern Pike. In comparison to Terry Lake, smaller fish can be caught here (size between 3 to 8 pounds) , but a Pike fisherperson would admire the wonderful nature and the serenity that the narrow beautiful lake offers. The best record was put by three people having caught 165 pikes in 8 hours. Land portage to Booger Lake is slightly difficult.

Cedarbough Lake. The lake is very deep and cold-water. It can be reached by boating through a small creek. The fish species there are Northern Pike, Whitefish, Smallmouth Bass, and Muskie. Muskie fishing can be very fast at times. A visitor boated 13 Muskies at a one-day trip. Muskies are up to 30 pounds, while Northern Pike reaches up to 20 pounds. Smallmouth Bass are caught each year: their size being up to and over 5 pounds.

Little Vermilion. It is one in an eleven-lake system. The lake is prolong, it has a lower and upper section. Its length is about 16 miles. The water is deep and cold, with many bays and reefs. Nature has created the perfect fish holding structures there. Whitefish, cisco, suckers, perch and crayfish live in the perfect water conditions. Little Vermilion is known to be the best place for a Canada fishing trip.

George Lake. This lake is rarely visited by fishermen and it needs some more exploration. It is the smallest portage lake, but its size is compensated by its beauty and fishing quality. A stress reducing fishing trip can be made here. Northern Pike and a good size Pike can be caught there. The land portage is slightly difficult.

These six lakes offer great opportunity for going on Canada fishing trips. Choose the best place for you and your family and enjoy your Canadian holiday!

Types of Graduation Cords

Graduation cords are available in various styles. One graduation cord is a pair that is entwined around the neck, so the two are suspended downwards on every side. This does not mean that the two cords making the pair have to look alike. If people prefer the single
Graduation cords then they should arrange for half the number of the double ones. They are also effortlessly untied, making two cords, which are single.

The full length is always 63″ counting the other 4″tassels at the ends. The normal width is a quarter of an inch. However, the economy cords are usually 3/16 inches. The ones in golden colors are typically designate honor alumnae. Additionally, the remaining hues might be used for service organizations, definite degrees or other several designations.

The graduation cords that might be prearranged for are the solid-hue standard-thickness cords available in single numbers. The rest must be prearranged for in dozens. The colors are available in entwined doubled, triple color blends or solid. People should allow more time for non-stocked colors and custom entwined cords. Some cords are fashioned on request such as cord sets combining dissimilar cord colors. Design set up charges applies as well.

Betting Room Taking Risks: Learning about Gambling

March 27th, 2009

If you have not yet mastered betting hall gaming, do read on — Most commonly a betting house is a structure that caters to games of luck. At such a place, clients will be encouraged to have fun at the coin operated machines or different wagers. Gambling saloon games generally include well calculated odds constituting them that make sure the gaming house maintains its lead over the gamesters.

Far too many gaming establishment games can incite you into being overly dependent speedily. We can consider the good old slot-machine, a cash operated gadget with 3 or more drums that pirouette when a bar on the side is tugged. This instrument generally returns in alignment with predefined patterns of motifs discernible on the screen of the machine. Sadly, betting establishment pastimes encourage a false impression of control, effectively deluding the gaming aficionado – the punter is tasked with judgments, but in actual fact they will not realistically level the patron’s odds. That is due to the gaming hall never paying the entire wager as hoped for. This theory is again and again noticeable in well-known casino games such as five card stud poker, dice, roulette or blackjack.

Seven card stud poker is undoubtedly an immensely fashionable casino game. The gaming aficionados, holding fully concealed cards, wager into a central pot which is finally given to the winning gamer carrying the best hand. (And yes, the coolest bluff may well prevail too…) Commensurate with five-card stud poker, blackjack too is an incredibly popular casino game. A sizeable portion of its is by virtue of its peculiar mix of chance and savvy & decision making, not to forget a practise identified as Card Counting. It is a particularly complex technique by which gambling enthusiasts are in a position to dramatically change the odds of the game for their own good both by wagering and strategic decisions correlating with the hands dealt.

Craps is yet another famous wagering game where punters must bet on the roll of dice. Patrons bet on the end result of one roll, or on a string of spins of 2 dice. Quite unlike blackjack, there can’t be a reliable killer betting system people could profit by to beat the odds. Roulette is another famous casino based game; here, a croupier turns a roulette wheel that incorporates thirty-seven (European roulette) or, respectively exactly 38 (Vegas roulette) independently marked slots in which a pellet will settle, which defines the winning number If the punter has placed a chip on a specific number and is successful i.e. they’ve got a lucky hand, the promised disimbursement is thirty five to 1, the bet itself being given back. Therefore in totality it is multiplied by thirty six.

Please take care to be very very on the watch for all that as each of these betting saloon games are massively dependency forming. A multitude of lives may have been wasted through inordinate gambling and although it indisputably seems entertaining, seek to govern oneself.

Finally No Wires! Guide To Using an EVDO Internet Access Card & Router for Trade Shows

March 26th, 2009

In February 2006 D-Link, a well known router company, and Kyocera, a well known cell phone products manufacturer, launched a product that will revolutionize how trade show exhibitors will gain access to broadband Internet access.

In most cases exhibitors didn’t have many options when it came to Internet access at trade shows, in fact there was really only one. You either rented it from the show production company or went without. At some shows the daily access rate was $500 or more. Now there is an option. In the past year wireless access through cellular phone systems has increased at a staggering rate and that access is now available in a format that can be shared by multiple users.

The technology is called EVDO and this is what cellular carriers Verizon Wireless and Sprint use to distribute a wireless broadband signal to its subscribers. A typical setup includes an account with one of these providers, a laptop and an access card that plugs into the PC card slot or PCMCIA Slot. This setup is fine if only one user wanted access, but what if you wanted to create a wired or wireless network?

This is where the "revolution" takes place…the EVDO router. This router, available at Kyocera and at D-Link in the near future, enable you to take the access card and share it via a wired or wireless access. Similar technologies existed before this router came out, but they weren’t billed as affordable options. The Kyocera EVDO Router has a street price of $250 – $300. These are the items you will need in order to use this technology.

Internet Access Account – $60-$100 per month* – Verizon Wireless or Sprint
EVDO PC Card – $50-$200**
EVDO Router – $250-$300***
Total – $1740-$2900 – based on 24 Months of Service

*see service provider’s websites for details and offers.
**see service provider’s websites for details and offers.
***see hardware provider’s websites for details and offers.

Currently, most service providers require you to sign a 24 month contract for both a phone and Internet access to get their lowest rate so please check to see if service (Verizon Coverage, Sprint Coverage) and what plans are available in your area. The total cost of 24 months of service and hardware can be equal to what one company pays for access at one show so you can see the incredible value. You also have the use of a technology that enables you to have access to the Internet 24/7/365 without the need of any wires.

When EVDO is coupled with state-of-the-art portable batteries then the technology can be used in ways never imagined. Imagine strapping on a framed camping backpack that has a portable battery, laptop, and an EVDO card plugged into the EVDO router. Also plugged into the router is a web-cam that has been attached to a helmet that is on your head. You now have a wireless, portable, go anywhere webcasting solution. Couple this setup with a wireless bluetooth headset that plugs into an EVDO phone (specialized phone that can be used with the router) and now you can provide interactive tours of the show floor with two-way communication that is broadcast back to a website. Other uses include POS systems and credit card authorization systems.

The way I see it, EVDO will not only save thousands of exhibitors’ money but it has created a new level of connectivity for our industry. It will also be used to create a whole new category of trade show experiences and for me that is the most exciting part!
