A Life of Creation — Nicholas Bredimus

April 15th, 2010

Are you aware of how the myriad significant developments in IT have utterly redesigned hospitality and air travel as you used to know them in the past years? Behind all of this is New Jersey native Nicholas Bredimus. This renaissance man has become a standout in several fields, from the high value home sector via the essentials of safety in the air to software to save time and resources. Bredimus has brought remarkable drive to all these areas, too. Glancing at Mr Nicholas Bredimus’ heritage it’s easy to see he was sure to reach prominence. The clan can trace its origins as far back as the days of ancient Rome and proudly boasts a wide background. The maternal family mingles German and Scottish roots. The paternal line, by contrast, has its roots in present day Luxembourg and England, which is where they migrated from toward the end of the 19th century.

After arrival in America, the family continued to persevere and climb to the top. Born part of a family of seven children, Nicholas was blessed with a father working as a mechanical design engineer, and a mother who worked as a nurse. Mr Bredimus would live in Texas for quite some while and also spent time in Scottsdale, AZ, Kansas City, MO and Reston, VA. What, you may ask, did he do with his upbringing and education? A series of respected posts were soon his, each of them as part of popular airlines. Among these was included the position of Vice President for Hughes Airwest, Republic Airlines, and Trans World Airlines (TWA). These achievements nothwithstanding, the airlines have had reason to thank him, above all, for the work he has conducted in software programming.

He is probably most acclaimed for a US Airways request, developing airplane maintenance software, which eventually evolved into an industry standard. And yet this stands as just one of his essential developments for the hotel business and for airlines. His flight booking software is on its way to stand alongside the aforementioned program as a measuring stick, and his room reservation routine empowered a great number of major market players in the hotel industry to leverage the first PC based infrastructure. He went on to develop a software application named QuikTix, an automated ticketing network. Mr Bredimus employed these achievements to move into capacities not tied to software development, and we should note that he continued to excel. With his own firm — Bredimus Systems — as a Division Manager with American Express, and as the founding president of AMR Travel Services his record speaks for itself.

But is he still active? Certainly — his expertise is still highly ready to answer the call in spite of his retirement. Currently, you can look for his work in upmarket homes deploying some of the cutting edge environmentally friendly technologies to be found anywhere. That passion we mentioned here will not end!
